Eddy Washington University, MissouriAnders Krogh Technical University of Denmark, LyngbyGraeme Mitchison Paperback ISBN13 This book gives unified, uptodate and selfcontained account, with Bayesian slant, of such methods, and more generally to probabilistic methods of sequence analysis. RNA and stochastic contextfree grammars ISBN10 0521629713 DOI 10. 22770521629713 There was also Hardback of this title but it is no longer available Written by an interdisciplinary team of authors, it aims to be accessible to molecular biologists, computer scientists, and mathematicians with no formal knowledge of the other fields, and at the same time present the stateoftheart in this new and highly important field.

It can also serve as basis for university course for undergraduates. Trends in Cell Biology an enjoyable opportunity to see blend of modeling and data analysis at work on an important class of problems in the rapidly growing field of computational biology. This book gives unified, uptodate and selfcontained account, with Bayesian slant, of such methods, and more generally to probabilistic methods of sequence analysis. Multiple alignments For example, hidden Markov models are used for analysing biological sequences, linguisticgrammarbased probabilistic models for identifying RNA secondary structure, and probabilistic evolutionary models for inferring phylogenies of sequences from different organisms.

ISMB Conference Support for Students

The ISMB conference has provided an annual forum for disseminating the latest developments in intelligent systems for molecular biology. Intelligent systems include any software which goes beyond straightforward, closedform algorithms or standard database technologies, and encompasses those that view data in symbolic fashion, learn from examples, consolidate multiple levels of abstraction, or synthesize results to be cognitively tractable to human, including the development and application of advanced computational methods for biological problems. ISMB Conference Support for Students & Young ScientistsSummaryThe Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology ISMB conference is the annual meeting of the International Society for Computational Biology ISCB.

degree. Students in bioinformatics focus on the mathematical, statistical, and computational analysis of genomic data. The Program in Statistical Genetics capitalizes on the strengths of NC State Universitys Centennial Campus in Raleigh.

Students have opportunities to work in various genomic laboratories on campus and in research organizations and companies in the Research Triangle area. The research and teaching activities of the Program in Statistical Genetics capitalizes on the strengths of NC State Universitys Department of Statistics in developing statistical methods for analyzing and interpreting genetic data. Faculty are drawn from the departments of statistics and genetics and are also affiliated with the BRC. Our research addresses both theoretical and practical issues in human, plant, and animal genetics.
